What is the Role of a Global Citizenship Schools Coordinator?

A Global Citizenship Schools Coordinator is responsible for direct communication with the Global Citizenship Schools secretariat to ensure that, during this eight-week period,  there is smooth coordination and implementation of the program within their school.

Their roles are as follows-

  1. Constitute a team of teachers (Teacher Fellows) to support implementing the initiative in your schools.
  2. Ensure all participating teacher fellows have completed the orientation and onboarding process to participate in this initiative.
  3. Raise issues with the Global Citizenship Foundation if learners face any challenges or have any concerns.
  4. Ensure teachers are appraised of the Child Protection Policies and protocols required to participate in the initiative online.
  5. Ensure the school meets the compliance  criteria and reporting deadlines.
  6. Prepare the school progress report and share it with GCF.
  7. Ensure that selected teachers are supporting learner groups towards progress and completion  of UNESCO MGIEP’s Global Citizenship Course by the enrolled learners.
  8. Share the opportunity with other school leaders from your Networks. 
  9. Ensure that there is a monitoring and evaluation process, including pre-assessment and post-assessment, to measure the success of the learners and the overall impact.
  10. Introduce the idea of Social-emotional learning(SEL) and global citizenship education(GCED)  to educators in their schools and after orientation and onboarding by GCF and UNESCO MGIEP team.
  11. Supervise and support GCED Teacher Fellows in meeting the requirements of the GC Course.
